Indiana YAC Hosts 14th
Annual Bowling Tournament
The
Indiana Young Agents Committee hosted nearly 80 agency
and company personnel at its 14th Annual Indiana YAC
Bowling Tournament on Thursday, March 15 at Woodland
Bowl in Indianapolis – an outstanding turnout.
Participants were treated to an afternoon of food,
bowling, the first day of the NCAA Men’s Basketball
Tournament, prizes and a tremendous networking
opportunity.
This tournament was formed 14 years ago at the
suggestion of Kevin Wallace (United Fire Group, Elwood)
and Andy Beauchamp (Morrison Galliher, Warsaw) as a fun
networking event during the winter. It also gives
those individuals who do not golf the opportunity to
participate in a different networking event.
In addition to bowling, Indiana YAC also raised money to
continue its fundraiser for The American Cancer Society.
A total of $200 was raised through a “50/50” Raffle.
Indiana YAC has raised a total of more than $4,400 for
the American Cancer Society in two events – with plans
for additional fundraisers at its annual Indiana YAC
Conference on June 6-8, 2012 at Blue Chip Hotel & Casino
in Michigan City.
“We would like to thank all of our agent members and
company partners for participating in and sponsoring
this year’s bowling tournament, it was a great success
and we had an outstanding turnout.” said 2011-2012
Indiana YAC Chair Andy Roe from Arlington/Roe in
Indianapolis. “Especially with the economy and
insurance marketplace being extremely difficult, we are
grateful that 78 people chose to participate in this
outstanding networking event.”

Young Agent Conference - 2011 Recap!
“We would like to thank all of our
speakers and their sponsoring organizations for
providing interesting and practical information to the
conference attendees through their continuing education
courses,” said incoming 2011-2012 Indiana YAC Chair
Andy Roe from Arlington/Roe & Co. in
Indianapolis.
“We try to provide as many networking
opportunities as possible with our events, but
continuing education is the centerpiece of our YAC
Conference every year.”
The 2011 Indiana YAC Conference also
provided a number of networking events designed to bring
together agents and company personnel to interact in an
informal and fun atmosphere.
The events included the annual YAC Spring Golf
Outing, which was held at Potttawatomie Country Club in
Michigan City; a Game Night featuring Wii and various
arcade games, the inaugural first time attendee
reception featuring “Minute to Win It” games of skill,
and the return of the always popular Karaoke night.
“We try to provide as many informal
networking events as we can at our conference, and we
were extremely pleased with this year’s programs,”
continued Roe.
“In particular, we were extremely pleased with
our First-Time Attendee Minute to Win It reception,
which we feel was a great event for people to interact
and team-build.”

Indiana
YAC Raises $1,200 for American Cancer Society
The Indiana Young Agents Committee
raised $1,200 toward its six-month campaign to raise
money for the American Cancer Society.
This brings the total raised since the 2010 IIAI
State Convention to nearly $5,500 – every dollar of
which will be donated to the American Cancer Society on
behalf of Indiana YAC.
Westfield Insurance generously
donated a golf package consisting of a foursome to play
on one of its golf courses, along with four overnight
stays at the Westfield Inn in
Westfield Center, OH.
After a raffle, then impromptu auction (led by
former Indiana YAC Chair and current IIAI Convention
Committee Chair Ronn Shumaker
from The Thompson Group in Parker City) for the golf
package, attendees of the conference raised $800 for the
golf package alone.
In addition, the winners of the
various prizes from the Indiana YAC Spring Golf Outing
donated their prizes toward the cause, totaling $400.
“The results of this fundraiser
show the generosity of our colleagues in the insurance
industry,” said incoming Indiana YAC Chair Andy Roe.
“We would especially like to thank one of our newest
sponsors and long-time IIAI supporter Westfield
Insurance for the donation of the golf package, which
was the centerpiece of this effort.
Thanks also to Ronn
Shumaker, who once again showed his
longtime support of IIAI and Indiana YAC activities by
leading the fundraising events.”
Indiana YAC will be
presenting the American Cancer Society with a check in
July. Thank
you to all who helped in this effort!
